Environmentally Sensitive Areas

This model ordinance includes a section on protecting environmental resource areas, including rivers, steep slopes, wetlands, wooded areas, nonlinear water bodies, and prairies. Most area subsections include information on restricted activities, such as removal of native vegetation, disturbing soil, and use of pesticides. Additionally, the model ordinance provides an example of maintenance and management practices that require submission of a maintenance plan every five years.
