Environmentally Sensitive Areas

The county’s environmental code aims to protect critical areas and incorporates mitigation requirements in accordance with state regulation and the county’s comprehensive plan. It includes regulations for wetlands, fish and wildlife habitats, geologically hazardous areas, and critical aquifer recharge areas (§11.20.050 et seq.). A section on incentives lists opportunities that encourage the protection of critical areas using property tax and income tax advantages, on site density transfers, and transfer of development rights (§11.20.080).
