This guide offers guidelines for maximizing compatibility between uses in Edge Planning Areas or agricultural and urban lands near Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) boundaries. It applies to a planning area of 600 meters spanning both agricultural and urban lands on both sides of the ALR boundary to minimize conflicts between non-farm residents and active agricultural uses. Part 3 of the guide offers a range of urban-side edge planning design objectives, strategies, and implementation tools that can help promote rural-urban compatibility, including four different buffer design options.
