Transit-Oriented Development

This article summarizes the evidence for using one-half mile as a standard catchment area for transit-oriented development (TOD). The authors found that a one-quarter mile catchment area is generally better for predicting transit usage by workers and one-half mile catchment area is generally better for predicting transit usage by residents.
