This article has operationalized a policy definition of WUI published in the Federal Register (US Department of the Interior [USDI] and US Department of Agriculture [USDA]), 2001. It discusses the creation of national maps and WUI statistics to guide strategic planning. It presents WUI evaluation based on individual parameter and outcome assessments.
