Report a broken linkWildland-Urban Interface
The county’s fire prevention code includes a wildland-urban interface chapter (§15.13). It recognizes the growth and development in the areas of wilderness of the county. It aims to protect this development as well as conserve natural resources from wildfire risks and hazards with the help of regulated and structures resource utilization and policy implementation. It establishes regulations with intention of protection of lives, homes, businesses and lands in its wilderness areas from the hazards of uncontrolled wildfire.
Furthermore, it intends to protect the natural resources from fire hazards created by development, to undertake optimum resource utilization with minimum fire protection requirements for development in the wildland urban interface/intermix areas of the County, and to eliminate unnecessary duplication of statutes, by requiring the removal and replacement or merger of this chapter if a substantially similar one is incorporated into the International Fire Code or other county fire code.
