Scenic View Protection

The town’s comprehensive plan identifies that diverse landscapes are an important component of the town’s identity and aims to preserve scenic resources. Goal I identifies trends that shape the town and presents strategies that preserve a sense of place, such as supporting compact village centers, maintaining coastal neighborhoods, and preserving the rural character of the town. The first strategy includes actions to preserve scenic views such as providing implementing an open space plan, proactively creating a mechanism to address scenic concerns, and purchasing land and easements that protect cultural landscapes and coastal views.
