Wildland-Urban Interface

The county’s zoning code includes a special Mountain/Wildfire Safety overlay district (§16). It addresses the development of a mitigation plan for the purpose of vegetative management and defensible space/fire safety. It states that this plan is to be submitted with site plans for principle building construction and that issuance of zoning certificates would be completed on approval by the review committee. It also provides requirements related to fuel breaks and defensible spaces.
