Wildland-Urban Interface

The city’s fire protection code adopts the California Fire Code by reference and includes amendments for the wildland-urban interface (§8.04.020). These amendments require compliance with Hire Fire Hazard Area Landscape Requirements (§8.04.020-4907.8). These requirements discuss the utilization and incorporation of essential fire-resistant landscape requirements on all parcels in order to prevent fire within the high fire hazard area. It establishes that these requirements meet the Fire Department High Fire Hazard Area Defensible Space Requirements.

It states that these standards are applicable to all parcels present within the high fire hazard area. The incorporation of these requirements into the review process will enable the city to comply with associated and existing regulations.
