Scenic View Protection

The town’s scenic resource protection code protects scenic landscapes, geologic and aesthetic features. It identifies roadways, slopes, ridgelines, open fields and meadows, water’s edge, cultural places, and trees and stands of trees as types of scenic resources (§138-5). It provides designation criteria (§138-8) and regulations (§138-13) for each scenic feature type, including the use of buffers, maintenance of existing vegetation, and minimizing disturbances to existing qualities like stone walls and natural tree lines.
