Report a broken linkOutdoor Lighting
The city’s comprehensive plan addresses outdoor lighting. In the Community Character element, a section on light pollution sets a goal of reducing light pollution impacts and promoting dark skies in the city (Goal CC4, Policies CC-4.1–4.7). Policies address limiting brightness of exterior lighting, requiring shielded light sources to prevent light trespass, promoting outdoor lighting that dims or turns off during the day, and considering the replacement of existing street lights with LEDs. The use of LED streetlights is also recommended under a goal of Energy and Waste Reduction (Goal CC19, Policy CC-19.3).
