Outdoor Lighting

The city’s outdoor lighting ordinance was adopted in 2010 to help reduce energy use, minimize glare and overlighting, and reduce light pollution. It requires fixtures to be shielded, hooded, and aimed downward toward the ground surface; light trespass is prohibited. An outdoor lighting plan is required as part of permit review to determine compliance with the ordinance.
