The township’s zoning ordinance includes a section on outdoor lighting (§17-90). The purpose of the ordinance is to prevent negative impacts to encourage energy conservation and prevent light pollution. All light fixtures must be full cut-off fixtures, with certain possible exceptions noted for certain uses. The ordinance addresses light trespass and provides standards for lighting placement, illumination, and timing to prevent trespass. Illuminance requirements are provided for street lighting and outdoor parking facilities. Outdoor lighting energy conservation curfews are established. The code lists evidence of compliance for permits or inspections.
