Outdoor Lighting 

The city addresses outdoor lighting in its zoning code within the section on performance standards (§10.89). The code’s intent is to require appropriate lighting levels using efficient lighting sources and full-cutoff lighting, while minimizing glare, light pollution, and light trespass.

Sections address definitions, general standards for lighting on private property, methods of illumination level measurement, exemptions, exterior lighting plans, and nonconforming luminaires. The code establishes two lighting districts, Downtown and General, and provides standards for those districts.
