Home Occupations

The town’s zoning code distinguishes between high- and low-intensity home occupations (§727).

It permits low-intensity “minor” home occupation by right, subject to use-specific standards. “Minor” home occupations must comply with location and space, display and sale, customer/client visitation, dwelling modification, nuisance, communications interference, employee, sign and advertising, delivery, parking, hours of operation, and utility standards (§727.1).

It allows high-intensity “major” home occupations with a discretionary use permit, subject to use-specific standards. “Major” home occupations must comply with location and space, display and sale, dwelling modification, nuisance, communications interference, employee, sign and advertising, delivery, parking, hours of operation, and utility standards (§727.2).

“Major” home occupations permit limited additional parking and non-resident employees (§§727.2.G & J).
