Wind Energy

The county’s comprehensive plan inventories wind energy resources, assesses the compatibility of wind energy systems with existing land uses, and includes wind energy regulation in the plan implementation steps. It discusses and maps the county’s wind resources (p.29 – 30). It describes large-scale, commercial wind energy systems as the predominant “other special land use” in the county (p.55). It does not predetermine ideal locations for future wind siting. It considers additional regulations, beyond their general discretionary use permit process, for large-scale wind and solar energy systems (p.57).
