Climate Change

The county’s comprehensive plan contains a climate change chapter. It includes policies to mitigate the impacts of climate change by improving the county’s energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and policies to prepare the community for the economic, environmental, and social impacts of climate change.

Wind Energy

The county’s comprehensive plan inventories wind energy resources and assesses opportunities for future wind energy development. It maps wind energy potential (p.79). It finds local resources inadequate for significant large-scale, commercial wind energy development. However, it promotes the development of small- and medium scale wind energy systems, particularly to offset energy use for farms and institutions (p.80). It highlights opportunities for wind energy to support the county’s farmers (p.28).
