This briefing paper encourages planners to look beyond single-family homeownership when addressing the housing needs of families with children. A toolkit (p. 3) describes how to develop a family-friendly housing policy and three case studies (p. 3-4), from Burlington, Vermont, East Lansing, Michigan, and Frederick, Maryland, show how these policies work in practice.
