This article argues that community-level age-in-place programs may reduce costs for families, heath systems, and local governments. It includes several case studies that describe the successes and challenges of developing and maintaining these programs. More research is needed to better understand the potential cost savings of age-in-place programs at a larger scale, but it will likely be challenging to accurately quantify the social and emotional benefits of these programs.
