Age-Friendly Communities

The city’s zoning code sets standards for senior living developments to promote aging in place (§7.840). It provides a density bonus for projects that are affordable or include assisted living or full care facilities. It also requires the development to be located near commercial retail uses in order to promote pedestrian activity. §7.849(4) sets “Easy Living Home” standards, which resemble universal design standards.
