Benefits of Compact, Mixed Use Development

This report discusses the benefits of smart growth and shares how to communicate these benefits to residents, developers, and policy makers. Figure 2 and Table 2 share the budget impact smart growth has on individual households and Table 6 summarizes all of the benefits of smart growth to the three stakeholders considered. The report identifies gaps and recommends improvements in smart growth communication, including common myths of living in dense neighborhoods and crime mapping technologies.
