Benefits of Compact, Mixed Use Development

This report considers whether there is a relationship between sprawl and social equity, defined as economic opportunity. The authors predicted that sprawl would decrease social equity, but the results showed that areas with more sprawl have more social equity than areas with less sprawl. The authors call for additional research and encourage planners to look beyond smart growth policies.
