Benefits of Compact, Mixed Use Development

This article considers how to evaluate the success of a mixed use development. It uses a literature review and a case study of Seattle to advocate for city-led market analysis and feasibility studies to support developers in their location and design decisions. The conclusions show that simply building mixed use development may not achieve the larger social, environmental, and investment goals of the developments, without additional intervention to attract and retain tenants.
