Benefits of Compact, Mixed Use Development

This article introduces a special issue of Urban Studies on the topic of the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of smart growth. It points out the similarities and tensions between the sustainable urban imaginary manifested in smart growth policies and neoliberal market triumphalism.
