This report reviews 40 housing-related health impact assessments (HIAs) to show how the tool can help improve decision making related to housing. It describes the relationship between housing and health, lays out the six steps of the HIA process, and discusses six housing policy approaches:
- Public housing
- Housing choice voucher programs
- Project-based rental assistance programs
- Low income housing tax credit programs
- Code enforcement and inspection policies
- Zoning policies.
