Built Environment and Health

This article looks at how local governments are using their regulatory and land use powers to address public health, a topic generally addressed by state and federal agencies. Section II shares innovative health policy initiatives, like menu-labeling laws, soda bans, smart growth, and grocery store siting. It also discusses challenges that governments have faced when trying to improve health through policy at the local level.
