This article explores how information and misinformation are used to influence the planning process and proposes a new form of “progressive” planning practice. It identifies five perspectives that planners can take, each with its own approach to information, and discusses the purpose and impact of different forms of misinformation. It centers power, of both the planner and of communication distortions, in its discussions.
