Historic Preservation

This report shares the results of a literature review, online surveys, and interviews conducted to assess the National Park Service’s statewide historic preservation planning program. It identifies the challenges that statewide historic preservation offices (SHPOs) face when drafting and implementing State Plans, including those related to the economy, availability of staff, relevance, and public interest. Four recommendations, including objectives and actions, are included at the end of the report.
