Historic Preservation

This report summarizes the main ideas from meetings and conversations between conservation professionals, facilitated by the Getty, and includes eight exploratory essays on the value of heritage conservation. Figure 1 visualizes the current shape of preservation policy as a linear progression, while Figure 2 visualizes a potential future as a series of concentric circles. It calls for the development of a conceptual framework that would unite the conservation field. An extensive annotated bibliography is included in the Appendix.
