Historic Preservation

This article highlights the challenges of preserving African American heritage sites through a case study of the Landmarks of Cleveland’s African American Experience project. It urges preservationists to look beyond architectural value and material integrity, and towards cultural heritage and historic significance, as indicators for designation.
