Historic Preservation

This article tracks racial and socioeconomic changes from historic district designation in New York City. It finds that historic designation is not associated with a change in racial composition but is associated with an increase in socioeconomic status. It urges planners to anticipate this change and find ways to practice historic preservation without displacement.
