Historic Preservation

This functional plan sets general goals and policies for historic preservation in Anchorage before sharing more specific plans for five neighborhoods. It recognizes these neighborhoods not just as containers holding historic architecture, but thriving communities, and therefore includes recommendations to improve livability as well as preserve the built environment. It outlines the federal, state, and local policy and planning context and includes an implementation matrix. Case studies highlight robust historic preservation programs from across the country.
