Historic Preservation

This web page features the work of the National Association of Tribal Historic Preservation Officers (NATHPO). A THPO assumes the functions of a State Historic Preservation Officer on tribal lands. NATHPO publications are available to support THPOs with issues of funding, tourism, consultation, and more. The site also introduces two repatriation initiatives, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and programs by the Smithsonian.
