This article discusses the role of resident participation and engagement in the implementation of green infrastructure on private property. It offers a classification scheme that ranks the degree of government intervention, participation, and engagement for outreach and regulatory approaches. The article analyzes the use of this scheme in relation to national trends and highlights Onondaga County, New York as a case study.
