Green Stormwater Infrastructure

This functional plan examines the role of green infrastructure in addressing Chicago’s stormwater challenges. It provides an overview of the city’s challenges, analyzes the role of green stormwater infrastructure, and outlines four goals: minimize basement flooding, reduce pollution in the lake and rivers, enhance environmental quality, and increase resilience to extreme weather and climate change. The functional plan highlights the implementation of six initiatives that incorporate green infrastructure into city-led projects and produce useful data and resources for further green infrastructure planning.
