Introducing Planning Concepts to Nonplanners

This video summarizes the basics of zoning, the pros and cons of zoning, and describes some of the ways nonplanners can influence zoning in their communities. It briefly describes common elements of the zoning map, including types of land uses, intensity of uses, and overlay zones. It then explains the writing of the zoning code. The video also recognizes that zoning codes have been used in exclusionary ways, and describes how some planners and city leaders are trying to amend this.
