Report a broken linkIntroducing Planning Concepts to Nonplanners
This audio explores how technology is affecting the practice of planning. It features an urban designer and an urban planner discussing what planners currently do and what they should be doing in order to effectively create and implement plans. One of the main arguments is that planners need to take advantage of the amount of data available to inform their decisions. The speakers explain the traditional ways some planning activities are done, and then offer innovative ways these activties can be done better using technology and data. Some of the concepts covered include smart cities, migration, affordable housing and redevelopment.
