Hazard Mitigation

This article examines the opportunity for natural resource conservation and flood hazard mitigation in California. It calculates the geographical overlap of two indices, a “Flood Exposure Index (FEI)” and a “Conservation Priority Index (CPI)”, and their relation to areas with “repetitive loss properties (RLPs)” to identify counties with the most opportunity for the integration of these two approaches. The report focuses on Sonoma County as a case study.
