Hazard Mitigation

This article investigates the influence of planners on the inclusion of land use policies in hazard mitigation plans. It focuses on the effect of three factors on the prevalence of land use policies in plans including inclusion of planners in planning committees, state and local policy contexts, and local community characteristics. The article concludes with a discussion on the finding’s implications for federal and state policymaking.
