Hazard Mitigation
This article presents a “resilience scorecard” to assess the degree to which local plans effectively identify and target areas most vulnerable to hazards. It focuses on evaluating the applicability of this scorecard by highlighting its use in Washington, North Carolina as a case study. The report concludes with a discussion on the performance of the scorecard, how other communities can utilize the tool, and its implementation at the state and federal levels.
Urban Heat Resilience
This article presents a scorecard that examines the degree to which different plans developed for the same jurisdiction coordinate to address vulnerability to hazards and climate change. It uses the scorecard to assess plans for Washington, North Carolina. The findings suggest an inconsistency across plans when addressing the physical and social vulnerability to hazards.
