Hazard Mitigation

This article highlights the ways renters and buyers have difficulty accessing information on flood hazards. It poses five problems including the treatment of flooding as a binary hazard, the lack of information property owners can access on their vulnerability to flooding, the lack of transparency from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the difficulty of locating useful information. The article concludes by offering a few suggestions for improving access to information and data.
