Climate Change

This model ordinance provides a template to help communities incorporate environmental justice into policies that ensure that vulnerable communities do not disproportionally suffer from environmental harms. Section II describes and analyzes the parts of the model ordinance, such as establishing the purpose of the ordinance, providing definitions, and creating a basis for establishing a committee. It also provides guidance for developing two recommendations: Education and Outreach and Adaptation Strategy.

Hazard Mitigation

This article discusses the issue of recurrent flooding in vulnerable communities and provides a model ordinance for preventing disproportionate harm. It outlines the features of the model ordinance and describes the process for enacting such an ordinance. The article also reviews the issue of recurrent flooding and its relationship to social vulnerability.
