This article assesses how planning and development decisions affect property damage caused by floods in Florida. It analyzes the presences of impervious surfaces, wetland alterations, and dams in municipalities throughout Florida and their effect on property damage following a major flood event. The article concludes by discussing the planning implications of their findings.
