Hazard Mitigation

The city’s codified ordinances include regulations to mitigate flood and wind hazards.  

Its Flood Prevention and Control code exceeds the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s minimum requirements (§7-1 et seq.). These regulations require all new or rehabilitated structures in special flood hazard zones to be elevated to one foot above base flood elevations and all critical facilities to be elevated up to the 0.2 percent chance floodplain elevation. 

Its Zoning code requires all mobile home parks that can accommodate five or more mobile homes to provide a storm shelter (Appendix A §7.5.3.8).
