Hazard Mitigation

The county’s land-use code includes overlay districts designed to reduce flood and geological hazard risks.

The Flood Plain Overlay Zone limits development in flood hazard areas in compliance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s requirements for the National Flood Insurance Program (§5-11).

The Natural Hazards Overlay Zone limits development in areas susceptible to rockfall, debris flow, landslides, or surface fault rupture (§5-12).
