Brownfields Redevelopment

This report applies a model of brownfield redevelopment the authors refer to as a social impact assessment (SIA). They apply the SIA model to a redevelopment project in northwest Wilmington, DE, analyzing how brownfield redevelopment benefited the area economically and environmentally and also positively impacted social factors such as civic pride, community engagement, public health, and aesthetics, among other factors. It lays out the redevelopment process and offers tools to help analyze and frame the impact of other projects moving forward, arguing that the SIA model is an important new development in prioritizing and carrying out brownfield redevelopment projects.
