Shared Mobility

This report discusses the relationship between public transit agencies and the technology-enabled shared mobility services, exploring how these transportation providers can collaborate to offer safe, accessible, and equitable mobility options to communities. It intends to help transit agencies understand the challenges and opportunities related to shared mobility services by exploring interviews with transportation officials, surveys of shared mobility users, analysis of mobility providers, and public-private partnerships that leverage new mobility technologies. Some of the findings presented in the report suggest that shared mobility services complement existing public transit systems by reducing the need for private vehicles ownership to complete trips. The report also shares actions that public agencies can pursue to encourage collaboration between public and private mobility providers.
