This report explores the impacts of carsharing in New York City and evaluates a pilot program in fourteen zones within the city that provided dedicated parking for carsharing vehicles. The goal of the program was to support the growth of the service and expansion into communities with less access to carsharing. Some of the findings suggest that the pilot promoted the growth of carsharing beyond its traditional demographics and helped reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and greenhouse gas emissions within the city.
