This report explores and compares some of California's purchase of agricultural conservation easement (PACE) programs, all efforts to preserve farmland in the state. It offers a detailed comparison of four programs: the California Farmland Conservancy Program; the Rangeland, Grazing Land, and Grassland Protection Program; the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program; and the Agricultural Land Mitigation Program.  For each of the programs, this report presents the statutory authority and purpose, project ranking, easement provisions, conservation planning, and the benefits for socially disadvantaged farmers, among other factors.
