Urban Heat Resilience

This subarea plan contains several recommendations identified through a community-driven planning process to help address urban heat in one of Philadelphia’s most heat vulnerable neighborhoods, Hunting Park. It gives an overview of the impacts of climate change, the urban heat island effect, and Philadelphia and Hunting Park’s heat vulnerability and inequity. Some of the recommendations identified to help reduce or moderate heat risk in the neighborhood include strategic and inclusive heat outreach, year-round utility assistance, efficient air conditioning in public spaces, and cool outdoors.
